Meet Inna Falk, PT

Inna Falk, PT

With over 30 years of clinical experience, Inna Falk, PT, brings an individual and highly effective perspective to the healing arts. Her journey began at Simmons College, where she earned her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy. Her prior career as an environmental engineer gives her a unique, structural perspective on how the body functions under stress and strain.

Throughout her career, Inna gained comprehensive experience in a variety of settings, including private practices and hospitals. For over two decades, she successfully owned and operated Falk Physical Therapy in Sharon, Massachusetts. While her practice was rooted in traditional physical therapy, she began incorporating Myofascial Release (MFR) into her treatments, which ultimately led her to deeply study the John F. Barnes Myofascial Release approach.

Over time, Inna observed that traditional therapies and pain medications often provided only temporary symptom relief. Recognizing that the true source of chronic pain and restriction frequently lies within the fascial system, she made the intentional decision to transition her practice focusing exclusively on John F. Barnes Myofascial Release.

Inna is deeply committed to this specialized discipline, having completed over 400 hours of intensive training. She continues to regularly attend and repeat advanced advanced John F Barnes Myofascial Release courses, staying at the forefront of the field.

Inna’s meticulous attention to detail allows her to accurately diagnose structural issues. She screens every client for body alignment, balance, and the subtle restrictions that standard medical imaging often misses. When Inna works with her patients she spends time to educate them in the possible causes of their problems, and recommends self treating techniques to facilitate healing.

Specialties Include: Posture Imbalances, Body Compensations, Chronic Stress Resolution, Structural Integration, and Myofascial Release.

Understanding Myofascial Release (MFR)

What is Fascia?

Fascia is a pervasive connective tissue that surrounds and attaches to all structures in our body. In a normal, healthy state, fascia is relaxed and wavy, allowing us to stretch and move without restriction.

There are three components of fascia: elastin, collagen, and the ground substance, which is the deepest level of fascia. Hyaluronic acid is the primary constituent of the ground substance. It is secreted as a lubricant to facilitate myofascial sliding and gliding of muscles and nerves.

However, when we experience physical trauma (like a fall or surgery), emotional trauma, scarring, or inflammation, the fascia loses its pliability. Then this hyaluronic acid in the fascia acts more like a glue than a lubricant. It becomes tight and restricted, creating a "straight-jacket" of pressure that can exert up to 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain-sensitive structures.

The MFR Difference

Fascia has historically been most overlooked and misunderstood in Western medicine. Unlike traditional massage, which primarily focuses on muscles, MFR specifically targets the fascia. The constant sustained pressure allows the thick, tightened fascia to stretch, soften, and reorganize into a relaxed, pliable state.

Traditional physical, occupational, and massage therapies often focus only on treating symptoms, while the medical approach relies on medication for temporary pain relief. Neither of these addresses the underlying "straight-jacket" of restricted fascia.

Myofascial Release (MFR) is a safe and effective technique that applies hands-on, sustained therapeutic pressure to release these restrictions. By treating the entire body where fascia could be restricted (the myofascial complex), MFR eliminates the pressure causing the symptoms, resulting in lasting pain relief and restored range of motion.

The Crucial Regulatory Roles of Fascia

Movement & Locomotion Regulates structural posture, directional force transmission, deep strength generation, elastic recoil, and spatial proprioception.
Systemic Protection Directs lymphatic drainage efficacy and ensures physical protection of delicate nerves, blood vessels, and deep organs.
Immune & Recovery Response Modulates internal inflammatory and immune pathways, accelerates localized wound healing, and impacts structural hormone production.
Neurological Communication Acts as a key communication highway playing a critical role in the transmission of vital neurotransmitters, namely serotonin and dopamine.

Common Conditions Treated

Fascial restrictions do not show up in standard tests like x-rays or MRIs, making Myofascial Release (MFR) a crucial therapy for unexplained and chronic conditions including:

Back & Neck Pain
Headaches & Migraines
Whiplash
Sports Injuries
Fibromyalgia
Sciatica & Disc Problems
Myofascial Pain Syndrome
Hip, Knee & Foot Problems
Poor Posture
Jaw Pain (TMJ)
Painful Scars & Adhesions
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
Scoliosis
Women's Health Issues
Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
Mental & Emotional Trauma
